101 for Commuters

January 20th, 2010 von Daniel

Next month I’ll be commuting again, thanks to an internship in Munich. Mental note to myself and others:

  • Lads! Don’t forget to put on your trousers in the morning!
  • And dudes: Don’t forget your pants either!

This could be quite emberassing, nevertheless brilliant fun!

More on the ImprovEverwyhere website!

Great TV Series: The Shield

December 16th, 2009 von Stephan

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Shield

Want a deep but very dark look into a fictional police force…different from NYPD Blue or CSI?

Try The Shield…

Two very enourmous scenes from the series ;)

Want to play good cop/bad cop? “Nah…Good cop and bad cop left for the day…I’m a different kind of cop!”

Proudly entertaining / frustrating since 1926

September 27th, 2009 von Daniel

Pretty soon I’ll be on my night drive to the airport - marking the start of the holidays for my parents. No palms and beaches for me, but at least this week-end is a welcomed opportunity to switch the brain off and relax after a taugh week. I decided to reactive my old Armed Assault DVD, the Operation Flashpoint successor which I never finished and haven’t been playing for about a year already. And you know what? I think only THESE games can be as equally entertaining as they can be frustrating. Playing on the hardest (veteran) level I was in three hours not able to finish this damn mission. Still at the same point where I stopped a year ago. I might try the medium level (which allows you to save actually more than once during a mission) next time…

Oh and YEEEEAAAAH… we actually have an election coming up NOW.

Dr. Udo Brömme has my first vote for sure! My Germän schpeaking friends, have a look at these Harald Schmidt clips. I found last Thursday’s show both politically enlighting as well as prickling (in a fizzy candy way).

Web 2.0 classics

July 7th, 2009 von Daniel

The blessings (and curses) of THE INTERNET are countless, today I want to turn your attention to a fabulous website I started to visit during my summer time off once again more frequently: Improveverywhere.com.

These guys, if you’re not familiar with them, pretty much brought the idea of flash mops to a whole new, professionally organised level. Interestingly I see they actually prepare a mission in Cologne very soon - unfortunately I miss them by just a couple days, but if you can: GO! ;-)

They do not add missions on a “day to day” basis, but when they add something chances are that it’s hilarious. One I recently particularly laughed about is the classic “Best Buy” mission. All they did was to enter a shop in Manhatten with some 50 people or so, all dressed in tasteless blue shirts, and khaki coloured trousers. But accidentally these are also Best Buy’s corporate colours, or to be more specific: That’s how the staff dresses :D

I just wish Media Markt or Saturn would have similarly distinct uniforms ^^

If you liked the clip check out the mission log for “deeper analysis”!

Communism and beer join forces

July 3rd, 2009 von Daniel

Who doubts the leaders in Pyongyang don’t know marketing should watch this new ad - the country’s first for beer ever produced - It will probably reaffirm your doubts but it’s funny in its own weird way!

The special effects reminded me somehow of Mr. Sparkle :D

Best TV ad of 2009

January 11th, 2009 von Daniel

The year might be young, but no reason to not enjoy some tasteful marketing. This one is currently being aired in the UK and it got’s all you need: Style, the 80s and some good lookin’ stewardesses. Way to go Virgin!

Some of the few reasons for loving Jeff Koyen

September 4th, 2008 von Stephan

I want you to introduce you to one of my few role models…one of the best journalists and writers I have read during my journey to escape my boredom and one of the few writers in the internet who have the ability to start ME laughing.

http://fineorsuperfine.com/

I just came over him by random…I just searched some Zines and Files on http://textfiles.com and then I stepped over a fairly bad text version of the CRANK Magazine which was from the time around the mid 90’s. I just read the last article in the first issue and I kind of felt mirrored with someone actually daring to write something like this.  I saw the expression of pure bitterness combined with a deep sense of humor.

Enough of this cocksucking…let’s list up some bits

(Fairly) actual writing

Screw Women Part 1

(With the most genius quote about men and women: “If you’re a woman, listen up: For every nice guy you know there are 3 dozen assholes waiting to date rape you and your friends. For every nice word a guy has for you, he’s got 20 words for describing your cunt to his buddies. It’s our nature as assholes. “)

Do it yourself Trepanation(1)

Letter to Black & Decker which drill one should use for drilling a fucking hole in your head

Clip Art Christ

Surviving the low-life

Roadside Terrorism: How to put a dead animal into the hindenburg

Yet another cartoon enlightment

Comics, Comics

If you like it, it’s fine if you don’t well the world is a sad and unhappy place…If Jeff can see this article on his server stats, I I would appreciate a harassing comment under this article, just for the fans.

  1. Trepanation (also known as trepanning, trephination, trephining or burr hole) is surgery in which a hole is drilled or scraped into the skull, thus exposing the dura mater in order to treat health problems related to intracranial diseases, though in the modern era it is used only to treat epidural and subdural hematomas and for surgical access for certain other neurosurgical procedures, such as intracranial pressure monitoring.
