Today I was on duty on one of the two Emergency Physician Vehicles around here from the Emergency Medical Service as a kind of internship. Here are some statistics

10 Calls, 9 Urgent

- Resus (Patient unconscious in water, near-drowning swalloded many liters of bathwater)
- Lung Emboly (aka post-operative shortness of breath and problematic oxygen-saturation, already at physicians hand)
- ?Overdose?
- ?Metabolic? Seizure
- Lung Edema
- Very, very bad open Ankle Joint Fracture
- Diffuse Heart Problems / Tachycardya
- Unresponsive Person
- Shortness of breath
- Stroke

Admissions by specialty:
Surgical: 1
Internal Medicine: 7
Neurology: 2

Best bits:
Resus: Patient unresponsive found in water, bystanders did resus sucessfully several liters of bathwater in her body as well as lungs as stomach.

Overdose: Young patient found unresponsive, state of hygiene opened the question of probable drug abuse. No evidence of substance abuse

Ankle joint Fracture: Very bad fracture, the tibia and/or fibula were “outside” the whole leg and shifted 3-5cm

Stroke: Patient walked around his apartment and complained about numbness like he sat on his leg for 30 minutes. No further evidence about stroke signs, EMS transported the patient to stroke unit to save the crew’s attorney expenditures.

In 11 hours on duty, I slept 5 hours

Food was great

I’m looking forward to do it again!

Eeeeey guys, a classic is back. Wrong, by Depeche Mode got me since I heared it during a home visit over Eastern. Being deprived off any music channels (my current TV horizon has been narrowed to five polish stations, of whom 4 1/2 are rubbish) I just saw the other day the official music video online - and it’s terrific. After a goodbye in the London office, which included loudly played old-school Depeche Mode songs, I say “Hello again!” to one of my favourite 80s bands! Album release is actually today I just noticed…
