Day 1

November 26th, 2007 von Stephan

So my pedometer counted 8,954 km during one entire shift on my ward (9 kilometers will sound better hum?)

I’m very impressed!

Experiment: Nursing-marathon

November 25th, 2007 von Stephan

Yiha folks, tomorrow will be my first day in Hospital for a long time and I will start a scientific experiment which will ask the question:

How many kilometers will I walk during the early morning shifts and the late shifts? (7,5 hours)

For the scientific proof, I will take a pedometer with me

pedometer1 Experiment: Nursing-marathon

(I blurred the company sign out for two reasons: 1) L.casei bacteria, which are for a good flora in the colon can only brought into the colon if you do it via enema, the oral way with a stomage passage will kill any bacteria contained and second: There are better products that taste better)

The first day and the first datas will arrive upon tomorrow!

Blue mousepad

November 24th, 2007 von Stephan

Today I was at Atelco to buy another USB Hub for my Notebook (I’m freaking out…why do Notebooks only have two USB ports ? If you have a fat USB Stick e.g. for Bluetooth you’ll not be able to use the other one!)

And I recognized this fancy mousepad with ingegrated USB Hub…it’s shining blue and the mousepad is killer for optical mouses, this is the first mousepad I have since two or three years I think…but it’s worth it (11€)

Fontys Fun Facts

November 24th, 2007 von Daniel

I have two reports to make in which I can proudly say the University is moving into the right direction! Last Saturday was the “Open Dag”. More people then most of us expected were actaully interested in visiting the campus. I was there to represeeeent with my fellow co-workers the beverage dispenser of the future. During this event I walked around to check out the competition and at some point I passed the gymnasium. Not only I was fascinated by the increasing diversity at Fontys!

 Fontys Fun Facts
Furthermore I am pleased to announce that Fontys constantly tries to win new international partners. The newest one is the Wisconsin-Madison University. Some good, old, investigative wikipedia research revealed this fun fact:

“Party school” image

Wisconsin has recently held the distinction of being rated the nation’s number one “party school“, according to the 2005 Princeton Reviews annual survey and the number one “party school” according to the May 2006 issue of Playboy magazine.[52] In the 2006 Princeton Review’s survey, Wisconsin dropped to fourth place, but was ranked first for the most beer. UW has long held a reputation for academics, political activism, and drinking; the last of these is easily understood when considering the state’s traditionally high level of alcohol consumption in general

Overall a perfect fit I would say. The other parnter univercities are certainly not less adventurous. There is currently an entertaining blog of some fellow Fontysianers, who are right now participating on an exchange in Finland. I particularly counldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the “windy design” of some trucks you encounter there.

Be stunned by the hole!

November 24th, 2007 von Daniel

What a week! Or should I say what two weeks? I don’t know on my own. Founding a student company that sells beer towers (officially beverage dispensers) can be quite stressful at some times. Add many night-shifts of work in front of the computer and most recently (last night) dropping off mom at the airport I slowly beginn to have some difficultires to distinct between the ending of one day and the beginninng of another. It’s freakin dark a few hours after waking up and then you sit there and work.

And if it’s not work I do stupid things like ripping the plastic water and dirt protection-shield under my car into pieces. I don’t know if I could blame the darkness, because I couldn’t see the small concrete flower bucket right in front of the car anyway. It was not before the nasty breaking sound that I realized “There was something you wanted to think of after arriving”. At this point I want to greet all the people in Stephan’s neighboorhood again, which were confused by the sound of plastic hitting the road at 50km/h. It’s fun to make it sound like the front mask of the car will fall off any minute. At least I made it all the way to Stephan, where I wanted to get anyway. We had a good time freezing our arses off and I was able to see many handy tools in action. I took the broken protection shield as a trophy with me and I have to say the car is dealing really well - with or without the cover down under.

Other things continue to break too. The front lighting off the car (already repaired… once again not by me though). my pocket watch is broken for months now and the table which I use to place THIS computer on it is also breaking apart. Pretty much everything seems to break into pieces, but I think it can still wait until it’s reaaaally worth reparing it.

 Be stunned by the hole!

End of school, breakfast time

November 23rd, 2007 von Stephan

Back to god’s english!

My camera is finally working again, and these pricks from the cam-company fixied without charging anything.breakfast End of school, breakfast time

We did a breakfast with our teacher and head-master (which we organized completely and payed it by ourself) and it was very good…especially the fact that they planned 2 rolls for me;)

Unluckily I don’t have pictures from our church service…I sang church songs (everybody did because if we sound awful, everybody has to sound awful!) and after 45minutes it was over. But it was a great one.

Neue Kategorie

Unfallchirurgie/Abdominalchirurgie & Internistologie. Bin gespannt wie ein Flitzebogen.

Look deep inside your heart…

November 16th, 2007 von Stephan

…and take a look on your valves and atriums!

Really great thing in nurse school t’day!

Let’s cut some pig-hearts!

 Look deep inside your heart...

Our work after 45minutes!

 Look deep inside your heart...

Valva tricuspidalis, I love this thing!

 Look deep inside your heart...

Work finished!

 Look deep inside your heart...

This is a pulmonal valve (The valva that leads from ventriculus sinister to Arteria pulmonalis)

A lot of fun…

A lot of blood

A lot of girls who had a face expression like they have diarrhea

FUN!

Käseblättchen in Schwalmtal

Käseblättchen in Schwalmtal

Was bleibt da noch zu tun? Vielleicht Italienisch lernen?

Tea time

November 14th, 2007 von Daniel

Are you a lazy ass student? Possibly an open minded, progressive lazy ass? If you don’t have time to wait until the damn tea is ready, making it the old fashioned way, use this guide to a new fascinating method that will soon surely revolutionize the international cuisine!

1. Get some ice tea, a mug (a picture of a dog on it is not an sbsolute necessity) and search for the closest, operating microwave around

 Tea time

2. Fill the mug with ice tea; Carefull! Remember to stop when the cup is full!

 Tea time
3. Place the mug at 3:13pm in your microwave

 Tea time

4. Expose the liquid to microwave radiation for about 35 seconds

 Tea time

5. Take it out after the beeping sound and enjoy your hot cup of tea! Just like home made, isn’t it?
